Tip Tuesday. Big Ink Tip You Wish You Knew Before.

So if you’ve ever used Chalkology Ink, and you were lazy and/or in a hurry like I was, then this has probably happened.

(Insert Sad Trombone here) The design gets a case of the runs. Ugh. Might be acceptable in some instances. Might even be desirable in some ways, like Halloween drips. But I assure you, in this case it was not desirable. It was downright disappointing. No comfort OR joy here, just sad and depressing. Good news, though. There is a way to prevent this from happening. Yay… and that is this really simple tip.

Iron Before You Design.

Yep, that’s right. Just run your iron over your material, whether it’s a pennant banner or a hanging banner or like this one, a square pillow cover. Using the iron gets any moisture out of the material and also makes the surface more flat for the transfer to adhere properly.

One thing to note. Let the material cool down a bit before putting your transfer down. Excessive heat will take the adhesive off of the transfer and that will make baby Jesus cry.

So remember, when using Chalkology Ink, Iron. Cool. Ink those material surfaces.

Stay safe and Chalk On!
